Roadside Munchies is born
Spanning over a period of more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry and a bonus seven years, in the Quick Service Restaurant business, Sadia Sifflet is now the proud owner of Roadside Munchies. Educated at the Morne Fortune Technical College (School of Hotel Trades) now- Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, she attended the National Secretarial (NSI)
and later the Institute of Business and Technology (IBT) where she earned a Cambridge Diploma in Travel and Tourism with a distinction in Event Planning and Promotion.
The initiative to start her own business was further realized, when she attended a local event and was not entirely thrilled by the customary food choices at the concessionaire food booths. With a desire of someday becoming a small business owner, the idea of introducing a menu to patrons attending various events materializes. She gives credence to the encouragement and assistance of her present employers and the support of her husband for making her dream a reality. Coupled with her educational background and experience in a managerial position of a local chain of restaurants, this prompted her to introduce gourmet hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches from a mobile "state of the art" hot dog cart. What initially commenced as a business idea came to fruition in October 2014 when Roadside Munchies was launched at "Jounen Kweyol" in the community of Monchy. A menu with a palatable Creole Theme was customized in time for that event. No doubt patrons quickly gravitated to the idea and Roadside Munchies grew by leaps and bounds as patrons of carnival band launches, St Lucia Jazz and Arts festival, other major events, beach and kids activities gather to experience flavorful, grilled sandwiches prepared right before their eyes. Roadside Munchies is now renowned for their sloppy dogs (Jumbo turkey frank on a hot dog bun , topped with a specially seasoned meat sauce) grilled steak and chicken sandwiches. Kids also find delight in sampling a delicious menu of corn dogs, fries, fish and chicken fingers. A flavorful menu of veggie and fish burgers has also become utterly popular with vegetarians.
